Privacy Policy

House of Kogi (“HOK”, “we”, “us”) is a branding and growth-marketing studio based at 96 Bungoma Road, Kahawa Sukari, Nairobi, Kenya. This policy explains what personal data hok-studio.com collects, why, and what rights you have over it. HOK is the data controller for the personal data described here.

What we collect

• Contact form: name, email, company, what you need, and your message — submitted when you fill in the contact form.
• Newsletter / checklist signup: your email address, and which part of the site you signed up from.
• Attribution: if you arrive via a tagged link (e.g. an ad or a social post), we record the campaign parameters and the page you landed on, so we can tell which channel an enquiry came from. This is attached to contact form submissions and, where possible, newsletter signups.
• Analytics: if you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics (via Google Tag Manager) collects pages viewed, approximate location (from IP address), device/browser type, and how you scroll and click through the site. See the Cookie Policy for the full list of cookies this sets.

Why we process it, and on what legal basis

We reply to contact form enquiries and send newsletter emails you asked for because doing so is necessary to take the steps you requested before entering into a contract with us, or under our legitimate interest in running a responsive studio. Attribution data is processed under that same legitimate interest — understanding which channel produced an enquiry — and is limited to first-party data about your own visit, never shared for cross-site advertising. Analytics and any future marketing cookies are processed only with your consent, given (or withheld) through the cookie banner, and you can withdraw that consent at any time — see “Your rights” below.

How long we keep it

Contact form messages are sent to us by email (via Resend) and are not stored in a database on our side — they live in our inbox for as long as we need them to handle your enquiry. Newsletter subscriber data is kept in MailerLite until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is retained in Google Analytics for the retention period configured there (currently Google Analytics' standard window), after which it is automatically deleted or aggregated.

Who we share it with

We use the following processors to run this site and studio:

• Vercel — hosts the website.
• Resend — delivers contact form emails to us.
• MailerLite — manages the newsletter and the emails it sends.
• Google— Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics, if you've accepted analytics cookies.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not currently run any advertising pixels. If that changes (for example, adding Meta's advertising pixel), this page and the cookie banner will be updated first.

International transfer

Vercel, Resend, MailerLite, and Google all process data on infrastructure outside Kenya (principally the EU and US). Where personal data is transferred outside Kenya, we rely on those providers' standard contractual safeguards and their own compliance with applicable data protection frameworks, consistent with the cross-border transfer requirements of Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019.

Your rights

Under Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019, you have the right to: know what personal data we hold about you (access); have inaccurate data corrected; have your data deleted; object to how we process it; and receive a copy of it in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@hok-studio.com — we'll respond within a reasonable time and, where relevant, within the timeframe the Act requires. You can withdraw analytics/marketing consent at any time via “Cookie preferences” in the footer, with immediate effect.

Children

This site is directed at businesses and is not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site or our tools change. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date at the top of the page.
